Cotococha Community

Staying with and sharing daily activities with a local Quichua community is truly a unique experience... Ecuadventour Expeditions offers you the opportunity to do it! We recommend you choose one of our special programs with this community.  It will allow you to have a once in a lifetime experience, not only with this people, but with its traditions, food, culture and natural environment.

Ecuadventour has established a special relationship with and supports the Quichua community of Cotococha, located in our Amazon Rainforest, through several tourism programs and packages organized by Ecuadventour.   One of our main goals is to collaborate with this local community, through visitations and activities, to further the development of the community through medical care, the construction of schools, craft shops and bridges all the while avoiding the destruction of any natural resources they rely on for their subsistence.

We build this into our itineraries and work diligently to develop tourism in a sustainable way.  Tourism can be very beneficial to several areas and communities living in Highlands and Amazon regions of Ecuador.

Yachana Lodge

Yachana is an ecotourism lodge that contributes to conservation and educational activities. This place offers 18 comfortable cabins each with its own private facilities and porch which is perfect for appreciating the loveliness of the Amazon as you relax in your hammock.

Your visit to Yachana includes a variety of services and amenities, including three delicious meals every day, satellite Internet and a gift shop. Yachana offers special departures and programs for 4 or 5 days

Huaorani Ecolodge

The Huaorani have long inhabited the headwaters of the Amazon, living as nomadic hunters and gatherers with no outside contact until the end of the 1950s.  At least one clan continues to shun all contact with the outside world.

Huaorani Ecolodge, opened in August 2007, provides accommodations for 10 people in harmonious style with the surrounding environment and the Huaorani culture.

Huaorani Ecolodge is situated in terra firma rainforest (forest that is never flooded), and is an hour walk from the community of Quehueri'ono in the north-western part of the Territory.
