Indian Markets
Ecuador is a country known for its cultural diversity. The country has several indigenous communities that continue practicing their ancestor's traditions, culture and even wear the same style of clothing. These communities have their own markets where they sell and exchange products.
This is one of the best experiences of Ecuador's Highlands.
Otavalo
Otavalo Indian Market
This Indian Market is located north of Quito city and it is one of the most famous markets of our country and of South America. Here you will find different handicrafts, bags and colorful textiles handmade by the Otavalo Indian Community. Every week this community sells and interchanges their different products in "Plaza del los Ponchos". This commercial activity supports their economy. This community keeps its traditional clothes, language, music and culture.
Complete this journey with a tour of Cuicocha Lake, Cotacachi, Indian communities of Iluman and Agato and enjoy a delicious lunch in a local hacienda.

Pujili & Saquisili
Saquisili Indian Market
These Andean markets are very interesting and different from Otavalo because they are more authentic and pure, so you will appreciate the real life style and commercial activities of these communities.
Both are located in Cotopaxi and Quilotoa areas. This way you can see the communities' typical houses and fields. The famous paints of "Tigua" are well-known in this area too. These colorful paintings (prepared on leather) reflect the life and traditions of these communities; Pujili is known for its ceramics and animal market.
These markets are still based around indigenous life rather than the tourist activity.
